    Meditation

New Insights I gained as I meditated on Christ's Command to love the Lord. - (See Joshua 1:8)

Whom do I know (in Scripture, in history, or today) who has kept this command?  What did I learn from the example of
his or her life? (See Hebrews 12:1)

How does this command reveal the Person or character of Christ to me?  (See John 14:21)

    Life Application

A time when I sensed the Lord's blessing for following this command.

What things in my life could hinder me in keeping this command?  How will I change them? (See Psalm 139:23-24)

What character qualities are needed to keep this command?  What practical steps can I take to develop them in my
    life?  (See John 15:8)

    Making Disciples

In what ways has the Lord opened the door for me to share insights on this command with others? (Hebrews 3:13)

How can keeping this command deepen my love for the Body of Christ? (See I John 5:2)

God will reveal Himself to us.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be
loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:21 KJV)
God will dwell in us.
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him,
and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
    (John 14:23 KJV)
We will receive God's love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments,
and abide in his love. (John 15:10 KJV)
We will know we love God.
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and
keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him
verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
    (1John 2:3-5 KJV)

If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15 KJV)
We will love others.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
    (1John 5:2 KJV)
Christ will be our Friend.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (John 15:14 KJV)
Our Prayers will be answered.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things
that are pleasing in his sight.  (1Jn 3:22 KJV)
We will be disciples.
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one
another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
    (John 13:34-35 KJV)
We will be have true joy.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
    (John 15:11 KJV)
We will be purified.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17 KJV)
We will have peace.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of
himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
    (John 16:13 KJV)

  • Have I evaluated all areas of my life to see if they are pleasing to God?

  • What areas do I need to yield to God's control?

  • Do I see God's refining trials and lessons as a means to becoming more mature?

  • Do I reach out to more than just my close circle of friends?  Whom is God leading me to befriend?

  • Have I removed everything that would hinder Christ from being Lord of my life?

  • Am I cleansing myself through the daily reading of the Word?
