I spoke with the author of several poems.  He gave permission for them to be published for your pleasure.

NO WASTE TO ME

We as Christians, have a battle inside.
But it’s up to us
; we must decide.
To stay with Christ,
and count on His grace.
Or follow the world
just to fall on our face.
For me this decision is easy to make.
When at God’s word
a look I take.
Because of the pressure
of the roaring crowd.
Pilate decided,
 and said aloud.
“Today this murder
I do set free.
But this righteous man,
must hang on a tree.”
To follow the world,
would be the same to me.
As hanging my Savior,
upon that tree.
I want nothing to do with it,
not even a taste!
Of counting Christ Jesus
but a total waste.
I believe He died
upon that tree.
From my lustful ways
to set me free.
To put me in fellowship
with God above.
Is why He died
this death of love.
I want to follow His lead
in whatever I do.
And count on His love
 to see my through.
Count it no waste
His death on the tree.
Brothers and sisters,
It was for you and me.
Praise God!

from the Webmaster:  I have been reading about the brain recently and am amazed at the magnificence of God.  Dr.
Tom Write wrote in a recent Voice of the Martyr's magazine concerning holes in our brains that are created by
hatred anger, bitterness and other negative emotions.  Allow me to quote a portion.

"Recently, my pastor and his wife, Joe and Dawn Marie Colaw, spoke about scientific research which shows that
black holes are burned into the brain by hatred, anger, bitterness and other negative emotions.
Dr. David Amen, Dr. Marian Diamond, Dr. Caroline Leaf and other neuroscientists and biochemists describe the
toxic chemical flood our bodies release into our brain when we think malicious thought.  Microphotographs reveal
these chemicals burn tunnel-like holes in branched never cells called dendrites.
Dr. Leaf calls these burned places "emotional black holes." By contrast, positive thoughts actually create more
dendrite nerve fibers in the brain.  She says, "You can grow a new memory over the old memory."  One of the
elements she mentions in the healing process is forgiveness."

In a different situation I read about the brains ability to adapt.
"In a study involving humans, inverting goggles were
taped to the forehead.  At first everything was upside down, and the subjects in the experiment couldn't read, write,
or ride a bicycle.  After 4-5 weeks of constantly wearing these inverting goggles, the visual system rewired itself.
When the goggles were taken off, however, the subjects again went through a period where is it was difficult to
read, write, ride a bicycle, etc.  To all appearances, the visual system has rewired itself."

Therefore, it occurred to me that we should retrain out brains.  Research has shown that the brain makes little use
of new information for 5-6 weeks and then gradually starts to use it. So I propose a project for the next 6 weeks.
Make yourself a small notebook and record everyday the following list of items.

Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."

Philippians 4:8 "finally, brethren, whatever things are true whatever things are noble, whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report ...  meditate on theses
things."

Ephesians 5:20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but might in God ... bringing every thought into
captivity to the obedience of Christ."

Ephesians  6:11-17  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For
we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.   Stand therefore, having your loins girt about
with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
